“Old buildings are like memories you can touch, ” the architect Mary DeNadai

When I walk the old streets, I often see abandoned buildings and lonely elderly people…. I always want to stop and ask these people about the times when they were young, and when these decayed buildings were full of life. And I think about how easily we can pass by, not notice, and forget…

How often we lose our heritage because of neglect, ignorance, or unwillingness to act. The stories of human lives, their joys and tragedies, laughter, tears, love, and partings are absorbed into these walls… Memories are the thread that connects our past and our future. Preserving these priceless memories is the basis of continuity between generations. Our memories will not last if we let these streets disappear.
